My Story

I spent most of my adult life as a corporate high flyer in the media industry, exhibition industry and later as brand manager in a large publishing house. For many years I thrived on the busy pace my career demanded, often burning the candle at both ends and juggling late hours and a social life. In my 20’s I thrived, working late, travelling as much as I could and fitting friends and family in the available gaps.

By my 30’s I’d become an expert juggler, but my body started to take some strain – I found I needed more sleep, I was less resilient to infection and I had mild aches and pains that I put down to ageing. I’d been plagued with hormonal imbalances from my mid-20’s which wreaked havoc in my system and soon started suffering from frequent and severe headaches, with debilitating migraines at times.

My work wouldn’t allow me to rest up and take time off, so I found myself in a mad cycle of trying to find quick fix solutions, medicating symptoms where I could, and endlessly trying to get to the bottom of these awful headache bouts.

I remember one particular diving holiday where my tension headaches were so severe I missed out on most of the fun – there were days that I felt I couldn’t ’t lift my head off the pillow. I found myself questioning how it could be that I was still so "tense" and stressed out, even on a long holiday – it just didn’t make sense!

I was fortunate to discovery Body Stress Release through recommendation from a friend. At that point I’d been sent for MRI scans and tried almost everything and I was desperate! With BSR I found a gentle technique that not only alleviated my headaches, it also assisted with my general health and vitality.

While most of the previous health care professionals I’d seen had focussed on my head and neck, from manipulation to x-rays, massage and migraine meds –with BSR I discovered that the root of my problems came from my lower back. The lower back is literally the powerhouse of communication from our spine. Body stress in the back can influence a number of things, because so many nerves radiate out of the back to organs, and our peripheries. The stress in my back, coupled with 2 whiplash injuries and my extremely fast lifestyle meant that my body was battling to adapt, it was simply attempting to make the best of a bad situation.

Body Stress Release didn’t focus on the symptoms – my practitioner simply nudged my body into restoring its natural communication and by doing this so many other things fell into place. I went from being a headache zombie to an energised positive person - with a lot more respect for my body! By releasing body stress one automatically upgrades the body’s communication system – allowing it to focus on getting on with key activities rather than having to focus all its energy on protective action.

It was then that I realised that this technique was so logical and so far reaching for healthcare that I wanted to be involved and I left the corporate world to study BSR.

As a BSR Practitioner I’m truly blessed to wake up every day looking forward to helping others. I work with babies, children, corporate high flyers, pensioners, and often even their pets. So many people come to me in a frazzled, frenzied mess and it brings me such joy to see them evolve as they slowly start recovering.

Perhaps the biggest privilege I have is in this work is to witness the transformation that takes place when clients start to take control of their own health and discover that the human body has a unique ability to regenerate and repair. I never tire of seeing someone’s joy when they suddenly realize their bodies are finally worth trusting with their health once again. That kind of feeling doesn’t have a price to it, that’s a kind of a feeling you just feel lucky to witness and one you feel compelled to share with the world.
